How Selling Surplus Wire Works

From first photo to paid pickup, in six steps and one conversation.

Selling surplus wire should take one conversation, not five. Here is exactly how it works, what we need from you at each step, and where the price comes from.

  1. Contact us with the basics

Call, email or use the quote form. Tell us the wire type, gauge, approximate footage, number of spools and where in Georgia the material is located.

  2. Send photos

Photos matter more than descriptions. We need the jacket print, the reel tag, a spool face to estimate footage, the cut ends, and a wide shot of the whole lot. Multiple uploads are supported in the form.

  3. We identify the construction

THHN, XHHW-2, MC, tray cable, URD, 15kV shielded cable and dozens of others all price differently. We read the print and confirm the construction before valuing anything.

  4. We estimate footage and condition

From the reel tag where readable, otherwise from the wrap diameter. Condition is assessed separately: sealed, opened, indoor, outdoor, damaged jacket, water exposure.

  5. You get a range, then a firm number

The range is based on photos and description. After inspection we confirm a firm number against an agreed count. Nothing is deducted after loading.

  6. We pick up and pay

We schedule pickup around your access and pay by check or bank transfer once the count is agreed.

What determines your price

FactorWhy it matters
Construction and printLegible print proving a current, listed construction is the difference between wire value and conductor value.
Remaining footageFootage is the multiplier. A partial reel is priced on what is left, measured from the tag or the wrap.
Conductor material and sizeCopper and aluminum price differently, and value scales steeply with size from 4/0 upward.
Voltage classA 35kV shielded reel has far more insulation and shielding than a 5kV reel of the same conductor size.
Jacket and shield conditionCrushed armor, cut shields and UV cracking reduce usable length or disqualify the cable entirely.
Storage historyGeorgia heat and humidity degrade outdoor-stored wire quickly. Indoor storage preserves value.
DocumentationReel tags and test records let a resale buyer accept the material, which supports a higher offer.

What we do not buy

Transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, busway, panels, motors, tools and general scrap equipment. If your lot includes those items, we will help you separate them so the wire can be quoted cleanly.

Loading and logistics

Tell us what you have: a dock and a forklift makes a load move in twenty minutes; a storage unit with a ramp takes longer and needs a different plan. Reels are heavy, and weight distribution matters. We would rather plan it in advance than discover it on arrival.
