Metal-clad cable is the fastest-installed wiring method in commercial construction, and every Georgia high-rise, school and hospital job leaves partial coils behind.
MC cable packages THHN or XHHW conductors inside an interlocked aluminum or steel armor with a grounding means built in. It is rated 600 volts and made in configurations from 12 AWG branch circuits up to 1000 MCM feeders, with 2, 3 and 4 conductor versions plus isolated ground and oversized neutral variants.
Surplus MC almost always arrives as partial coils rather than full reels, because crews pull what they need and leave the remainder. We buy those partials by estimated footage, and we buy unopened factory coils at wire value.
| Construction | THHN/THWN or XHHW conductors in interlocked armor with ground |
|---|---|
| Voltage rating | 600V |
| Size range | 14 AWG through 1000 kcmil conductors |
| Armor | Aluminum or galvanized steel, interlocked |
| Standard | UL 1569; NEC Article 330 |
Armor condition drives value more than anything else. Crushed or kinked armor means the conductors inside may be damaged and the cable cannot be pulled cleanly. Coils stored flat and dry keep their shape; coils thrown in a truck bed do not.
The number you get reflects three things: whether the construction is still in use, how much footage remains, and whether the jacket and print are intact. Everything else is secondary.
Atlanta's commercial and healthcare construction market, plus school districts and university projects statewide, generate the largest volume of MC partials. Distributors carrying MC in twelve configurations end up with slow-moving coils after a product change.
We reply with a range for full reels, partial spools and mixed lots, anywhere in Georgia.
Yes. Most MC we buy is partial. Tell us the conductor configuration and approximate remaining feet, and include a photo of the coil side so we can estimate the wrap.
As wire, when the armor is intact and the configuration is still common. Scrap value recovers only the copper and aluminum; usable MC carries installation labor savings that a contractor will pay for.
We can, but it is priced as conductor rather than as cable. Cut armor usually means the cable cannot be installed to code.
We buy statewide. A few of the markets where this category comes up most:

Send the details below and include photos of your spools, reels and labels. Photos are what let us identify the construction, estimate footage, and give you a real number instead of a guess.
