AC cable, still called BX on most job sites, remains common in multifamily and light commercial work. We buy surplus coils and reels across Georgia.
Armored cable runs insulated conductors inside a flexible galvanized steel armor with a bonding strip, rated 600 volts and typically made from 14 AWG to 10 AWG in two, three and four conductor configurations. It is used for branch circuits in dry locations, especially in multifamily and renovation work.
AC is a smaller market than MC but still moves steadily. The value is in the coil: unopened factory coils with legible print sell as cable, opened coils are priced on footage, and heavily kinked coils go to conductor value.

AC armor is steel and will rust when stored damp, which is easy to do in Georgia. Rusted armor is a downgrade, not a deal breaker; we quote based on how much of the coil is still installable.
We price against what the material is worth as usable wire, then compare that to conductor value so you can see the difference. If a reel has lost its jacket or its print, we say so and price it accordingly.
Renovation and multifamily work in Atlanta, Macon, Columbus and Savannah produces most AC surplus. Older distributor stock with discontinued configurations also shows up regularly.
We reply with a range for full reels, partial spools and mixed lots, anywhere in Georgia.
Yes, mainly in multifamily and renovation work where existing wiring is armored. It is less common in new commercial construction, which now favors MC.
By the coil, with footage estimated from the tag or the wrap. Short cut lengths are bundled and priced as a lot.
We still quote it. Rust reduces the usable portion and the price reflects that, but the copper conductors retain value.
We buy statewide. A few of the markets where this category comes up most:
