Tray cable lets an industrial plant run power and control in open cable tray, and plants that standardize on it accumulate surplus in every size and conductor count.
Tray cable is a factory assembly of two or more insulated conductors with an overall jacket, rated 600 volts or 1kV, listed for use in cable tray, raceway and direct burial in some constructions. Sizes run from 18 AWG control configurations up to 1000 MCM power conductors, with PVC, XLPE or EPR insulation and a sunlight-resistant jacket.
Plants usually buy tray cable in long lengths and keep the remainder on the reel. That is good news for sellers: TC reels are typically well labeled, which makes valuation straightforward, and they hold value because the same plant often needs more of the same construction six months later.
| Construction | Multiconductor assembly with overall jacket, optional ground |
|---|---|
| Voltage rating | 600V or 1kV |
| Temperature | 90 degrees C dry, 75 degrees C wet typical |
| Size range | 18 AWG through 1000 kcmil |
| Standard | UL 1277; NEC Article 392 for cable tray use |
Tray cable value depends on conductor count and jacket integrity. A 4-conductor 1/0 TC reel is a power product; a 19-conductor 16 AWG reel is a control product. Both sell, to different buyers, and we quote them separately.
The number you get reflects three things: whether the construction is still in use, how much footage remains, and whether the jacket and print are intact. Everything else is secondary.
Pulp and paper mills, chemical plants, food processing lines and automotive suppliers across Georgia standardize on tray cable. Plant maintenance budget cuts and line changeovers are when surplus reels appear.
We reply with a range for full reels, partial spools and mixed lots, anywhere in Georgia.
TC is a jacketed multiconductor assembly listed for tray use without armor. MC is armored. Both can be installed in tray, but they are priced and specified differently.
Yes, at conductor value. A damaged overall jacket usually disqualifies the cable for installation, but the copper inside still has value.
Common configurations run from 2 up to 37 conductors, and larger counts exist for control and instrumentation. Tell us the count and we will match it to a buyer.
